Chapter One: And so it begins
Sooooooo. It happened. I finally had the balls to do something that I had been dreaming about ever since I made my first trip to Paris back in 2011! Shit, time flies.
Loved living in London but had the feeling I needed to conquer another city and try something new.....And what with the whole BREXIT nonsense I figured its now or never. Also we aren't getting any younger so whilst I still have good health, my teeth, no mortgage, no husband and no commitments I might as well YOLO all over it.
The long road to Paris -
Rule one...Renting is a little bitch so be prepared. I have been very lucky to find the perfect apartment but it did take hours/days/weeks trolling the websites and second guessing whether to move! But patience is a virtue. Being from London I only wanted to go through English websites as its the safest way when its your first time moving country.
Airbnb is a good website - www.airbnb.com
Homeaway is where I found mine - www.homeaway.co.uk
I live in a studio apartment that is in the 4th arrondissement and it is perfect for me.
Getting here was a slight stress. I decided to go via Eurostar and take advantage of the cheapish tickets and the 2h40mins journey to Gare Du Nord. Plus you can take two big suitcases and a holdall with none of that airport check in hassle.
Now the stress was condensing my life collection of shoes and clothes into two suitcases!!! My sensible brain decided to pack the essentials and store everything else away. And although I am still sad about this I know I can buy fabulousness here in Paris!
So there I am, dragging two suitcases that are about to burst, wearing my winter coat on a 17c. day and carrying my Louis Vuitton keepall with my Prada Saffiano nestled inside. Feeling all kinds of anxiety about what I'm about to do let alone looking a hot mess! But it was all over before I knew it. A lovely couple helped me with my bags on and off the train and the uber I arranged was waiting for me at the other end. THANK THE LORD PARIS HAS UBER!!! Definitely my guilty pleasure when I lived in London.
So this is me. An English Girl In Paris. Writing Blogs now....Ha! Who the hell am I.
